Spectacularly Successful Celebrate Gloucester 2010 Raised $15,000 for Charity

We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors, volunteers, performers and everyone who joined us on September 5, 2010 to Celebrate Gloucester (see thank-you letter). We demonstrated the profound power of music to bring us together and build community (see article). And we raised $15,000 for local charities (see article).

The Gloucester Fund Distributed $15,000.00 to local charities based on community voting
Congratulations to Cape Ann Families and Cape Ann Animal Aid
who took 1st and 2nd place and received $5,000 grants each.

There was a 3-way tie for third place. Proceeds were divided among Schooner Adventure, St. Ann School and Pathways for Children after another week of voting.

• Grammy-Award winning Charles Neville of the Neville Brothers joined New Orleans singer and bandleader Henri Smith and his band New Orleans Friends and Flavours featuring Stanton Davis on Trumpet SEE VIDEO.
• National recording artist Roomful of Blues rocked the dock SEE VIDEO.
• Local rock legends KBMG with special guests Nelson Bragg of the Brian Wilson Band and Anny Celsi (SEE VIDEO) and J.B. Amero SEE VIDEO.
• Award-winning local singer/songwriter Allen Estes introduced new songs and was joined on stage by surprise guest Fly Amero for Allen's iconic song about Gloucester hero Howard Blackburn SEE VIDEO.
• Inge Berge and his band performed great originals from his new CD, his own classic, Samsara, and as his distinctive versions of classic covers SEE VIDEO.
• Pete Lindberg treated us to an extraordinary solo set, then was joined by musicians from back stage on this classic -- SEE VIDEO.
• Special MC appearance by Joey Ciaramitaro of GoodMorningGloucester.com
• Gloucester Poet Laureate, Ruthanne (Rufus) Collinson, opened the concert with a poem especially written for the occasion READ IT HERE.

Celebrate Gloucester raised $15,000 that was donated to The Gloucester Fund. 25 charities were nominated to receive grants.

Congratulations to Cape Ann Families and Cape Ann Animal Aid, who took 1st and 2nd place. Each organization was awarded $5,000 grants by The Gloucester Fund.
